Introduction: The Transformation
The day has finally arrived! If you’ve been following along, you know we’ve spent weeks looking at exposed studs and hanging wires. But this week? The house officially became a home. Seeing the crew unload the drywall was almost as impressive as the installation itself—I held my breath as a crane operator expertly maneuvered those heavy sheets right through our front door with surgical precision!
Efficiency vs. The DIY Struggle
Larry and I have tackled our fair share of home projects over the years, and if there is one thing we’ve learned, it’s that drywall is not our favorite way to spend a weekend. Watching these pros glide across the room on stilts, popping up ceilings and walls in a single day, was a reminder of why you hire experts. They made quick work of a job that—if it were just the two of us—would have taken weeks of dust, sweat, and sore muscles. We definitely aren’t complaining that they’re handling the finishing work, too! It’s tedious, messy, and hot work, and we are so glad to leave the mudding and taping to the pros.
Reflecting on the Finish Line
With the walls closed in, the scale of the rooms is finally clear. We can actually walk through and visualize where the furniture goes, how the light hits the floor, and where those grandbabies will be playing. It’s hard to believe we’re here, but our project manager reminded us there’s still plenty to do—about 60 days of finish work once the cabinets are in.
We’re closing in on that finish line, and the exterior is catching up, too! The siding is finally being installed, and I am dying to show you the color we picked. It’s bold, it’s classic, and it’s definitely going to make a statement.
