For weeks, we’ve been playing a little game with friends and family: Did we go with the trendy all-black, or the classic white-and-black contrast? Most people guessed we’d play it safe, but we decided to make a statement.

When Larry and I first visited the builder’s office last fall, we spotted a sample that stopped us in our tracks. We never wavered. We chose a deep, rich Coastal Blue.
Living just 45 minutes from the coast, this color feels like a tribute to our home turf. It’s a classic coastal shade, but paired with our black roof, black soffit, crisp white windows, and that gorgeous wood front door, it feels like the perfect bridge between our Barndo roots and our French Country interior. It’s bold, it’s refreshing, and honestly? It makes me smile every time I walk out of the tiny house and look over at the site.
The Vision Ahead
People have been so kind, often stopping by or commenting on how “wowed” they are by the appearance. It’s still a work in progress—we still have gutters, exterior lighting, and landscaping to layer in—but the home is finally showing its true colors. We couldn’t be happier that we trusted our gut instead of following the “all-black” trend.
