Introduction: The Transformation
There is a striking shift happening at the site this week. With the black metal roof and soffit fully installed, the house has a sharp, modern-meets-traditional contrast that I absolutely love—especially against the bright blue skies on a sunny day. But as much as I love the exterior, this week was really about what is happening inside the walls.
The “Hidden” Efficiency
Next up was the insulation. It’s not the most glamorous part of the build, and to be honest, it’s one of those things you won’t ever see again once the drywall is up. But it is arguably the most important decision we made for the long-term health of our home. We chose spray foam insulation, which gives us an incredibly tight seal. Our project manager shared a story about a home he visited last summer—it was 105 degrees outside, but the attic stayed a comfortable 75! We are so looking forward to having a weather-tight, energy-efficient home that keeps us comfortable (and saves on those electric bills!) for decades to come. The crew was incredible—they moved through the house with such efficiency that they had the walls and roof completely sealed in just a couple of days.
Writing the Truth on the Walls
Before the insulation team arrived to seal everything up, we did something that meant more to us than any design choice or hardware selection. We gathered our family in each room and wrote our favorite Bible verses directly onto the framing studs.

It was such a special moment. Our children chose verses that spoke to their hearts, and even our two-year-old grandson “wrote” his name and a little heart in the room he’ll share with his brother when they come to visit. We walked through every corner, praying over the space and walking the perimeter of the home. It’s our prayer that every person who crosses our threshold feels welcome, blessed, and wrapped in the peace of God. We know that the beauty of a home isn’t just in the paint or the light fixtures—it’s in the foundation of faith that holds it all together.
Next Steps: Drywall Days
We are officially one step closer to the interior taking shape. Once the drywall goes up, the rooms will finally feel like rooms rather than framing!
