Welcome to Life on Tiny Lane. We’re Larry and Lara, and for the last five years, we’ve called a 399-square-foot tiny home our sanctuary. It’s been a season of intentional living, simple joys, and a whole lot of “making-do” with less. But as our family has grown to include five adult children and two precious grandsons, we’ve felt the call to build a space that can hold all of our favorite people at once.
We are currently in the thick of building our dream home—a place designed for hosting, gathering, and the simple beauty of everyday life.
Our new home is about more than just square footage. It’s a space designed for connection. We’re building a home that can finally hold all five of our adult children and their families around one table.
Perhaps most importantly, this move is a labor of love for our family. As we transition into our new home, my aging parents will be moving into our tiny house. It’s a blessing to have them nearby, ensuring I can care for them just steps away from our new front door.

Lara: You’ll find me in the garden, in the kitchen with flour on my apron, or in the workshop. I’m passionate about “garden-to-table” canning, scratch baking, and thrift-flipping furniture. I’m currently learning the art of restoration from my 80-year-old father—a master carpenter who is passing down a multi-generational legacy of woodworking.
Larry: When he’s not working or doing projects on the homestead, you can find Larry deep in the studio creating music, tending to our garden beds, or playing on the floor with our two grandsons. He’s the steady hand behind the tech and the build, always ready for the next project that keeps our homestead growing.

When we aren’t building, we’re surrounded by our fur babies, soaking up every minute with our grandbabies, and prepping for the garden harvest. Our life is a mix of grit, grace, and a love for things that are built to last.
This blog is our digital journal—a place to share the “tiny-to-dream” transformation, our favorite budget-friendly design finds, and the tools we’re using to build a home that honors our family’s legacy.
Whether you’re here for the French Country decor, the canning tips, or just the story of a big family finding their way to a bigger table, we are so glad you’re here.
Grab a cup of coffee and follow along. We’re so glad you’re part of the story!
