Baking Essentials

From sourdough starters to massive batches of cookies for our five adult kids, baking is the language of our home. I’m sharing the high-quality, long-lasting baking mats, heavy-duty mixers, and clever space-saving prep tools that make baking from scratch a joy instead of a chore.

I was given this teak wooden utensil set by my mother as a new house warming gift. It  is sustainably sourced and I can’t wait to start using them

These are our every day pots and pans that we love. The granite-finish nonstick coating means that foods come out easily. A note: these pans cannot be used with high heat.

The slotted turner is angled just right and works well for flipping stacks of pancakes for my large family.

This griddle is my favorite for making pancakes or French toast for the family. The ceramic griddle is non-stick. I can cook 6-8 pancakes at a time which works well when all of our family is together.

The small cookie scoop holds 2 teaspoons of dough and produces a 2 inch cookie. I have multiple sizes of these scoops and they have held up well over many years and dozens of cookies.

The medium cookie scoop holds 1.5 tablespoons of dough and produces a standard size cookie. Love the comfortable grips and easy release mechanism.

The large cookie scoop holds 3 tablespoons and yields a bigger cookie. This is the only brand of cookie scoop I use. The release mechanism holds up well and makes it easy to scoop out a tray of cookies in no time at all.

These liners work well for muffins or cupcakes. Definitely makes it easier to clean the pan.

A muffin pan on a smaller scale, this one cooks pancake muffins and pecan pie bites evenly and beautifully.

A sturdy muffin pan that has held up well for me over the years. I have baked dozens of muffins and cupcakes in this pan.

Unbleached parchment paper is all I use for baking cookies and sheet pan meals. Just remember, you cannot place it under the broiler!

Larry likes his hamburger and sausage chopped up fine and this tool makes quick work of it. It’s a tool that you didn’t know you needed, but will love having.

I am slowly trying to incorporate more economical products into our kitchen. That includes wooden utensils. This set will work great with our granite coated pans.

This spatula works well for removing brownies are bar desserts. It also works great for cutting and serving lasagna. Of course, you can’t go wrong with an OXO product.

Reynolds is my go to for foil in the kitchen. Holds up well in the oven or on the grill.

I batch cook quite frequently and use a lot of plastic wrap. The wide width of this wrap makes it easy to cover a variety of sizes. While it will take me some time to get through this box, it is the best value for as much as we use it.

My favorite brand of freezer bags. I use these every day. They seal well which helps to prevent freezer burn.

Nesting bowls are great for saving space. The stainless steel bowls are used daily in my kitchen. I love the non skid bottoms which grip the counter when mixing ingredients.

These are my favorite measuring cups. The angle makes it easy to read the measurements. My set lasted 20 years and the handle recently broke. Time to buy a new set!

I love this small whisk for scrambling eggs. Not all recipes need a big whisk. This one is sturdy and mixes well.

This is the whisk I use most. While other whisks have not held up, this OXO brand has been built to last.

Measuring cups that are magnetic means that they will interlock and stay put. No more rummaging through the drawer to find the exact cup needed for your recipes.

No more searching the drawer for measuring spoons! This set is magnetic and each piece interlocks. A space and time saver.

OXO is a brand I trust. I have multiple tools from them in my kitchen. Having the versatility of different spatula sizes works well for baking or cooking.

I use this baking dish quite often. One of the things I love about it is the lid. It makes transporting food easier and works well for storing heath bar cake, chocolate lush, or leftovers.

The cooling racks I have used to cool hundreds of cookies and baked goods. Definitely my favorite.

These are the pans that I use the most. Whether baking our triple chocolate chip cookies or cooking sheet pan meals, the pans are sturdy and have held up well for years.
