The Transformation
There is a specific kind of magic that happens on a building site. One day, you’re staring at a flat slab of concrete, and the next, your home is literally rising out of the ground!
Once our concrete foundation finally finished its curing process, the real excitement began. The trucks rolled in with mountains of lumber, and for the first time, we could actually visualize the footprint of our future home. We weren’t just looking at site plans anymore—we were watching our dream take shape.
The Truss Milestone
Part of the unique beauty of building with The Barndo Co. is the inclusion of their signature steel trusses. Shortly after the lumber shipment arrived, the steel arrived on-site. Watching a small, talented team of men turn a pile of wood and steel into a sturdy structure was nothing short of incredible. They worked from sunrise to late afternoon every single day, and it was a thrill to see our walls climb higher and higher within just a couple of weeks.
I’ll admit, Larry and I missed the “truss flying” moment—I was out and Larry was tied up in a meeting—but coming home that evening to see the roofline suddenly defined was a pretty special consolation prize. It was the moment it started to feel like home.
Why Quality Matters: Structural Peace of Mind
As we watch the walls go up, the “why” behind our builder choice becomes clear. We’ve been so impressed by the sheer quality of the materials going into this project. With 6×6 posts supporting the metal trusses, 2×6 studs for the exterior walls, and solid 2×4 interior framing, this house is a fortress.
Seeing those walls securely anchored to our concrete slab with heavy-duty lag bolts and massive headers gave us the kind of peace of mind that every homeowner dreams of. We aren’t just building for today; we are building our forever home. Knowing that the structure beneath the drywall is this robust makes every penny spent feel like an absolute investment in our family’s future.
